TYSONS CORNER, VA, Dec. 15, 2017 Space Systems Loral has partnered with the University of Michigan and NASA‘s Jet Propulsion Laboratory on a project that seeks to launch small satellites to study the sun and how solar energetic particles are emitted into interplanetary space, ExecutiveBiz reported Tuesday.
The Maxar Technologies (NYSE: MAXR) subsidiary said Monday its Payload Orbital Delivery System will carry the smallsats beyond geosynchronous Earth orbit and deploy them as free-flyers to perform the study as part of the Sun Radio Interferometer Space Experiment.
Richard White, president of SSLs government systems unit, noted that PODS works to facilitate flight opportunities for hosted and small rideshare payloads to GEO orbit and beyond.
