SPA Buys Metron’s Operations Research & Cyber Analysis Division; William Vantine Quoted

Systems Planning and Analysis, a portfolio company of Arlington Capital Partners, has acquired a Metron division focused on providing operations research, digital engineering and model-based systems engineering support for the U.S. Navy and other national security customers.

SPA said Tuesday it will integrate Metron’s operations research and cyber analysis division with its naval, nuclear and critical infrastructure sector led by Terry Benedict, a retired Navy vice admiral and executive vice president of the sector.

San Diego-based ORCA will continue to be led by the division’s management team that includes Jeff Monroe, Matt Norton and Coni Ratonel.

William Vantine, president and CEO of SPA, said the transaction will further strengthen the company’s position in operations research, DevSecOps, model-based systems engineering, modeling and simulation and wargaming and the combined technologies and tools will enhance SPA’s ability to deliver innovative platforms to clients in the national security sector.

Sheppard Mullin and Morrison Foerster acted as SPA’s legal advisers in the transaction. Baird and Venable served as financial adviser and legal counsel, respectively, to Metron.
