SOS International has received a potential five-year, $400M contract to provide on-site translation and transcription services to the Department of Justice’s immigration review component.
DOJ said in an award notice posted Thursday on the beta SAM website that SOSi will perform court interpretation and other foreign language assistance for immigration-related proceedings under the department’s Executive Office for Immigration Review.
SOSi will also provide interpreters as well as computer-aided real-time transcription, written translation and telephonic interpretation services to help EOIR’s in-house staff throughout the U.S. and its territories.
The contract covers a one-year base period and four one-year extension options.
According to the notice, EOIR is responsible for DOJ’s federal immigration proceedings including administrative hearings and appellate reviews.
The office is comprised of three subcomponents, namely the Office of the Chief Immigration Judge, Board of Immigration Appeals and Office of the Chief Administrative Hearing Officer.
