Sierra Space has closed a $550 million equity investment led by LuminArx Capital Management, bringing the defense technology company’s valuation to $8 billion.
The Colorado-based firm said Thursday the investment also drew participation from existing investors, including General Atlantic, Coatue, Moore Strategic Ventures and Andalusian Private Capital.
“We appreciate the confidence shown by our new equity investor, LuminArx Capital, whose thoughtful, agile approach to capital solutions, positions the company strongly for the future,” said Fatih Ozmen, Sierra Space board chair.
How Will the Investment Support Sierra Space?
The new funding will allow Sierra Space to expand its national security space initiatives, boost production capacity and advance the development of specialized technologies for government customers. The investment also strengthens the company’s ability to pursue new contracts, build on existing capabilities and explore opportunities beyond its current satellite and spacecraft programs.

What Were Sierra Space’s Previous Funding Rounds?
The latest investment builds on Sierra Space’s earlier funding rounds. In 2023, the company raised $290 million in Series B financing, bringing its valuation to about $5.3 billion. Earlier, Sierra Space secured $1.4 billion in Series A funding. These investments have supported the company’s work on commercial space infrastructure, satellite technologies and national security space capabilities.
