Shawn Black, chief operating officer of Cobhams advanced electronic solutions sector in the U.S., has been promoted to serve as president of the same business beginning on July 1.
He will report to the board of directors of the CAES sector and succeed Jill Kale, who will retire after seven years in the job, Cobham said Thursday.
Black has served as COO since November 2018 and previously spent 16 years at Leonardo DRS in vice president and managerial positions.
He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps for five years before he joined the private sector in 1999.
CAES operates under a special security agreement with the Department of Defense and offers communications technology designed for defense, aerospace, medical, security and industrial applications.
