September 5th Morning Report: Friday Close - GovCon Index and Markets Enter Labor Day Weekend in the Positive

The Friday before Labor Day the Executive Mosaic GovCon Index (GCI) continued to climb for the fifth consecutive day to close up 0.588 percent to 102.099. ICF (NYSE; ICFI), topped the GCI with 7.18 percent gain on the day and 8.10 points or 18.7 percent on the week.

The major indices all closed Friday with positive gains. The S&P500 was up 0.20 percent to 2,476.55, while DJIA gained 0.18 percent to 21,987.56 and the NASDAQ Composite once again reached a new high moving up 0.10 percent to close at 6,435.33. Stocks traded lightly the Friday before the long Labor Day weekend

Crude oil continued its positive gain from Thursday with WTI on the NY Mercantile Exchange closing Friday up .83 percent to $47.40 per barrel, as the Texas Gulf Coast began its recovery from Hurricane Harvey.
