“Together we’ll define the future of enterprise software, creating the digital HQ that enables every organization to deliver customer and employee success from anywhere,” Marc Benioff, chair and CEO of Salesforce, said in a statement published Wednesday.
The San Francisco-based customer relationship management company first announced the transaction in December.
Slack will maintain its brand as part of Salesforce and will continue to be led by Stewart Butterfield, co-founder and CEO of the enterprise communications platforms provider.
The combined entity will provide the cloud-based Slack-First Customer 360 offering to help organizations facilitate collaboration among customers, employees and partners and connect them to data and applications through a single platform. It will also establish an open ecosystem to deliver digital business workflows and apps.
