RQ Construction will conduct design and construction work as part of a potential $225.6 million task order awarded under a U.S. Navy contract that provides for services in support of the Michelson Laboratory building at Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake in California.
The contractor will build an industrial shop and environmental and chemistry laboratories intended to support materials research and development efforts at the military installation, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
Work in Ridgecrest, California, has an estimated completion date of August 2025.
The task order has a $217.7 million base value and includes 25 options that, if exercised, would bring the award to its potential amount. The Navy has obligated the task order’s base amount from military construction and working capital funds at the time of the award.
The multiple award contract provides for Michelson Laboratory Complex construction and building wings Six and Seven repair work. Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Southwest, awarded the contract.
RQ competed against three other bidders for the Navy task order.
