Rory Welch, former vice president of operations and support services at Intelsat General, has transitioned to a new role as VP of international government and space at the satellite communications provider, according to a LinkedIn post published Monday.
The retired U.S. Air Force colonel will oversee product management, sales and business development functions for Intelsat’s global portfolio of government, space and hosted payload services.
Welch joined the company in August 2014 as director of space services and business development after more than 25 years of combined federal and military service.
From June 2012 to July 2014, he was principal deputy director of mission operations at the National Reconnaissance Office.
His 23-year USAF career included time as vice commander of the 45th Space Wing, division chief of strategic plans and staff officer at HQ AF Space Command.
