Robert Smith Named Interim President of General Dynamics’ Bath Iron Works Subsidiary

Robert Smith, executive vice president for marine systems segment at General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), will serve as acting president of the Reston, Virginia-based defense contractor’s Bath Iron Works subsidiary until a permanent replacement is appointed, WMTW reported Friday.

His appointment came after Dirk Lesko, president of Bath Iron Works since 2016, stepped down from his post after three decades of service with the company.

Smith named head of General Dynamics’ marine systems business in 2019.

Prior to that role, he was president of the company’s Jet Aviation subsidiary. 

Smith previously served as chief financial officer and former VP of General Dynamics’ NASSCO subsidiary.
