Jeff Smith
Jeff Smith, a retired U.S. Army major general with more than 30 years of leadership experience, has been named vice president of business development at Harris (NYSE: HRS).
Harris said Thursday Smith will oversee the company’s strategic relationships with the Army, Special Operations Command and industry partners in his new position.
He previously served as president of General Solutions International and senior vice president of strategic initiatives at Sallyport Global Holdings.
His military career included time as deputy commanding general of the XVIII Airborne Corp and command assignments with the 10th Mountain, 82nd Airborne and 101st Air Assault divisions.
Smith also serves as strategic adviser at the Northeastern University, an advisory council member at the International Stability Operations Association and a member of the board of advisers at American Dream U.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Columbus State University, as well as a master’s degree in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College and a master of science in administration degree from Central Michigan University.
