TYSONS CORNER, VA, April 11, 2018 Matt Mulherin, retired president of Huntington Ingalls Industries‘ (NYSE: HII) Newport News Shipbuilding business, has received recognition from the Navy League for his work on ship construction and maintenance projects, GovCon Executive reported Tuesday.
HII said Monday the Navy League presented the Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz Award to Mulherin during a banquet at the Sea-Air-Space 2018 global maritime exposition in Maryland.
Mulherin supported the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier construction and overhaul program and the design of the Gerald R. Ford-class carriers as part of his 36-year career.
