Amazon Web Services has purchased Sqrrl, a cybersecurity company founded by former National Security Agency employees, CNBCreported Tuesday.
The transaction comes as AWS aims to integrate new security tools into the firm’s cloud platform and expand work with the intelligence community.
Sqrrl CEO Mark Terenzoni said in thecompanys homepage the combination will allow the two companies to develop and deliver new offerings to clients.
A team of developers and contributors to NSAs Accumulo open-source database software established Sqrrl in 2012.
Sqrrls software platform works to help security analysts facilitate threat detection through the use of machine learning algorithms, link analysis and multi-petabyte scalability functions.
Some of the companies that have invested in the cybersecurity startup include Spring Lake Equity Partners, Accomplice, Rally Ventures and Matrix Partners, the report added.
