TYSONS CORNER, VA, Dec. 20, 2016 The National Institute of Standards and Technology has awarded Federal Information Processing Standard 140-2 certifications for nine Red Hat (NYSE: RHT) operating system cryptographic modules, ExecutiveBiz reported Wednesday.
The FIPS certifications validate the compliance of the native cryptographic security platforms used by the company’s Enterprise Linux 7.1 operating system with international cryptography standards, the company said Dec. 12.
“Protecting highly-sensitive data, from employee and customer financial data to national security details, is a critical need for modern IT departments, particularly those operating in the public sector, ” said Paul Smith, vice president and general manager of Red Hats public sector business.
