Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) has received a $63 million order to produce and deliver 18 AN/APG-79 active electronically scanned array radars for the U.S. Navy ‘s F/A-18E/FSuper Hornet and EA-18GGrowler jets.
The Defense Departmentsaid Thursday that Raytheon will also supply two AN/APG-79 AESA radars to support AESA configuration D upgrade tests and one AN/APG-79 radar to Australia under a foreign military sales deal.
Work will occur Forest, Mississippi; Dallas, Texas; El Segundo, California and Andover, Massachusetts through July 2018.
The Naval Air Systems Command will obligate the full amount of the order at the time of the award from the Navy’s fiscal 2016 aircraft procurement funds and foreign military sales funds.
Raytheon’s AN/APG-79 AESA radar is designed to aid situational awareness and provide air-to-air and air-to-surface support for the Super Hornet aircraft.
Both the F/A-18E/F and EA-18G are produced by Boeing (NYSE: BA).
