The Department of Defense said Thursday 11 of the lot 3 low-rate initial production NGJ-MB ship sets will go to the Navy and the rest will be handed over to the government of Australia.
Each ship set consists of two NGJ-MB pods, according to DOD.
The vendor will also provide related spares, support equipment, nonrecurring engineering support and associated data under the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract.
Work will occur in California, Massachusetts, Mississippi and Texas through April 2024.
Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Maryland, will use the service branch’s aircraft procurement funds for fiscal years 2022 and 2023 and foreign cooperative project funds to cover the full obligated amount.
NGJ-MB is an electronic attack system that can be integrated onto E/A-18 Growler aircraft to disrupt and deny adversaries’ air-defense equipment and communication tools. The program achieved Milestone C in 2021 and is now under the production and deployment phase.
