TYSONS CORNER, VA, June 23, 2021 — Two executives from Raytheon Technologies‘ (NYSE: RTX) intelligence and space business have talked about the subsidiary’s efforts to accelerate warfighters’ access to sensor-derived data using a 5G connectivity-based approach, ExecutiveBiz reported June 3.
“Being able to operate secure applications on 5G gives everyone up and down the command chain the ability to see the same thing at the same time. 5G networks provide the speed and resiliency needed to take the command center virtual so no matter where you’re located, you know what’s going on around you,” said David Appel, vice president of defense and civil solutions for space and C2 systems at Raytheon Intelligence and Space.
In addition, Christopher Worley, director for defense and civil solutions at RI&S, cited a potential for 5G technology to provide network users with access to data uploaded by air controllers and other operators.
