Before joining RTX, Richards spent nearly two years at Leidos as vice president of information and data sciences and VP of enterprise strategy and technology director. He was also the director of software at Dynetics for over two years.
Richards served as program manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or DARPA. In this role, he initiated the Cyber Assured Systems Engineering and Automated Rapid Certification of Software programs. He also led the completion of the High Assurance Cyber Military Systems and Vetting Commodity IT Software and Firmware programs.
Before that, Richards worked at Rockwell Collins for over 16 years. He held various roles, including principal technologist and Washington, D.C. representative for the company’s Advanced Technology Center. He also served as principal engineering manager for over six years and as a software engineer for nearly nine years. Richards started his career at IBM as a software engineer.
