He succeeds the retiring James Klein in the role and reports to Qorvo President and CEO Bob Bruggeworth, the company said Wednesday.
Bruggeworth said Chesley’s leadership experience and expertise in RF, data communications, power, aerospace and defense, industrial and automotive markets will be key as he oversees Qorvo’s IDP team to advance growth initiatives.
Chesley joined Qorvo from Renesas, where he served as vice president and general manager of the industrial and communications business unit. He also held senior leadership roles at Intersil and Primarion.
Qorvo also announced that it acquired United Silicon Carbide as part of efforts to broaden its presence in electric vehicles, circuit protection, data center power and industrial power markets.
UnitedSiC will operate as part of Qorvo’s IDP business and will be managed by Chris Dries, formerly president and CEO of UnitedSiC and now serves as GM of power device solutions at Qorvo.
Chesley said the acquisition expands the IDP segment’s market opportunities in high-power applications and enables Qorvo to deliver high-value systems covering motion control, circuit protection and power conversion applications.
