Pratt & Whitney Awarded $517M in Navy Contract Modifications for F135, Propulsion System Block Four Flight Test Program

RTX’s (NYSE: RTX) Pratt & Whitney subsidiary has received two contract modifications worth $517.1 million combined from the U.S. Navy to deliver spares for the production of the F135 propulsion system and provide continued technical engineering support for the F-35 Lightning II Propulsion System Block Four Flight Test Program.

The Department of Defense said Wednesday one of the contract modifications awarded by Naval Air Systems Command is worth $405.3 million and covers spares depot support and country unique spares for the Joint Strike Fighter program of the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, non-DOD participants, F-35 Cooperative Program Partners and foreign military sales customers.

The majority of the work will occur in East Hartford, Connecticut, and the rest in Maine, Illinois, Arizona and Puerto Rico through December 2027.

A $111.8 million contract option awarded to Pratt & Whitney covers flight test support, test equipment repair, special tooling, spare and repair parts for the F-35 Propulsion System Block Four Flight Test Program.

Work on this award will occur in Connecticut, California and Maryland through December 2026.

NAVAIR will obligate $26.2 million in fiscal 2024 Navy and Air Force research, development, test and evaluation and non-DOD participant funds to support the contract modification.
