Mary McDowell
Mary McDowell, an executive partner at Siris Capital Group, will join gobal communications services provider Polycom (Nasdaq: PLCM) as CEO once the latter company completes its merger with a Siris Capital affiliate.
Polycom said Wednesday McDowell will succeed Peter Leav, who will continue to serve as CEO and board member until the completion of the merger.
McDowell spent seven years at Nokia, where she held senior leadership roles such as executive vice president of the firms enterprise solutions business, chief development officer as well as EVP and general manager of mobile phones.
Prior to Nokia, she held the role of senior VP and GM of industry standard servers at Hewlett-Packard and Compaq Computer.
McDowell is also a member of the board of directors of Bazaarvoice, UBM and Autodesk.
Polycom shareholders also approved on Friday the companys merger with Siris Capital two months after the former company agreed to accept the private equity firms $2 billion buyout offer, Polycom noted.
Polycom said it expects the transaction to conclude between September and October.
