Peter Cannito, former CEO of defense technology firm Polaris Alpha, has joined private equity firm AE Industrial Partners as an operating partner.
Cannito will also serve on the board of Gryphon Technologies, which became a portfolio company of AEI after its acquisition in September 2018, the private equity firm said Wednesday.
“Peter’s experience leading high-growth companies, shepherding defense, technology, and government services companies through strategic transformations, acquisitions, and integrations, along with his expertise with high-tech, critical systems for companies in our core markets, will benefit AEI’s portfolio companies and our firm’s overall strategic direction, said David Rowe, a managing partner at AEI.
Cannito brings to AEI over two decades of experience in defense, government services and technology industries.
Prior to Polaris, he served as CEO and chief operating officer at C4ISR tech provider EOIR Technologies and worked at Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH), where he led a team of systems and software engineers focused on intelligence and defense programs. He is a retired U.S. Marine Corps officer and founded an enterprise mobile computing firm.
