TYSONS CORNER, VA, Oct. 28, 2016 Red Hat‘s (NYSE: RHT) Linux 7.1 has achieved the Common Criteria Certification at Evaluation Assurance Level 4+ for an unmodified commercial operating system as part of the Operating System Protection Profile, ExecutiveBiz reported Wednesday.
The Common Criteria Certification validates the compliance of Linux 7.1 to the security standards of the federal government, the company said Tuesday.
“Red Hat Enterprise Linux powers some of the world’s most complex, critical and highly-secure systems, from financial markets to military communications networks, ” said Paul Smith, vice president and general manager at Red Hats public sector.
He added that the certification recognizes Linux 7.1’s security features, as well as its first in the market framework for Linux container technology.
