POC Forum Panelists to Discuss Climate Analytics' Role in National Security Mission

A panel of subject matter experts for an upcoming Potomac Officers Club event will explore the role of data analytics in federal initiatives to manage climate-related challenges in the national security mission.

Sharon Burke, former assistant secretary for operational energy at the Department of Defense and current president of Ecospherics, will lead the panel discussion during the “Bolstering Climate Resilience for National Security” forum, scheduled for Sept. 14.

Burke established her own research and advisory firm with the goal of helping agencies, businesses and nonprofit organizations adapt to a changing natural environment. She previously held leadership roles at various civic organizations such as the Center for a New American Security.

The panelists are Erwin Villiger, principal of sustainability at LMI; Terence Thompson, chief science officer of The Climate Service; and Kathleen White, program director for climate change in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Sustainment).

Joseph Bryan, senior climate adviser at DOD, and Ecological Futures Group CEO Rod Schoonover will respectively deliver opening and closing keynote speeches at the forum. Pat Tamburrino Jr., vice president of logistics at LMI, will provide the keynote introductions.
