Pacific Defense Buys Spectranetix to Grow Military Tech Portfolio

Pacific Defense, which aims to develop non-kinetic systems for the military sector, has acquired open systems architecture developer Spectranetix for an undisclosed sum as part of portfolio expansion efforts.

Spectranetix said Thursday it designs and produces architecture platforms designed to comply with the U.S. Army's modular open suite of standards for command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.

The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based company developed its MOSA technology to also meet the U.S. Air Force’s sensor open systems architecture standard.

Both CMOSS and SOSA standards are intended for various military applications such as cyber and electronic warfare, signals intelligence, tactical communications and high-speed computing.

"The acquisition will help accelerate our products and technologies to our important government, military and intelligence customers," said Rick Lu, president and CEO of Spectranetix.

Travis Slocumb, CEO of Pacific Defense, said the company looks to invest in CMOSS/SOSA-compliant software applications that can work with artificial intelligence, machine learning, EW technology and communications waveforms.

Spectranetix also offers MOSA implementation support and subsystems for airborne, ground and sea platforms as well as compact communications systems.
