TYSONS CORNER, VA, Aug. 8, 2016 Orbital ATK (NYSE: OA) has delivered the first two Iridium (Nasdaq: IRDM) NEXT satellites to Vandenberg Air Force Base in preparation for the scheduled satellite launch on Sept. 19, ExecutiveBiz reported Thursday.
Spaceflight Now reported Wednesday Orbital ATK transported the Iridium NEXT satellites from its satellite manufacturing plant in Arizona to the base in California, where the company will deliver eight more satellites.
“The Iridium NEXT program has been more than seven years in the making, and is one of the most complex satellite programs underway today, ” said Matt Desch, Iridium CEO and an inductee into Executive Mosaics Wash100 for 2016.
He added the next 10-satellite Iridium NEXT launch will be in December.
