NSA Vet Hal Smith Joins Accenture as Intell Practice Managing Director

Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has appointed Hal Smith, former associate deputy director at the National Security Agency, to managing director of the intelligence practice within the global consulting firm’s federal government subsidiary.

Accenture said Monday Smith has held additional intelligence, security and technology roles during his career at other government agencies and commercial businesses.

He helped to establish and manage large-scale practices and has participated in several advisory boards at intelligence community-related organizations such as the Intelligence and National Security Alliance and Network Reliability and Interoperability Council.

He is currently a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

œHal has a deep understanding of the federal intelligence community and its unique technology and business needs, said Matthew Tait, senior managing director of Accenture Federal Services™ defense and intelligence sector.

Smith’s appointment comes after AFS hired Gus Hunt, former chief technology officer for the CIA, as managing director for the business’ cybersecurity practice.
