Details of Northrop’s Ammo Manufacturing Contract From Army
The recent award exercises an option under the FFP that the Army awarded to Northrop in 2022 to extend the production of ammo rounds through September 2026.
Work on the contract also includes M1002 ammo can refurbishment.
Northrop is manufacturing the training rounds at its facility in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In 2022, the Army awarded a separate FFP contract to General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems to produce 120mm tank training ammunition. General Dynamics performed its obligations under the contract in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Northrop’s Recent Contracts From Air Force, Navy
Northrop is also supporting other U.S. military missions.
Recently, the company won a cost-plus-fixed-fee contract modification valued at $188.6 million from the Navy to provide continued logistics and test service for its MQ-4C Triton unmanned aerial vehicle. Under the contract, Northrop will deploy field service representatives and conduct reach-back engineering to ensure that the UAV can carry out intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
In March, the defense contractor also secured a $175.6 million contract to supply radio frequency countermeasure, or RFCM, systems to the Royal Australian Air Force.
