Northrop Books $88M Air Force Contract to Sustain Joint STARS Weapon

Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has secured a one-year, $87.8 million contract from the U.S. Air Force to support sustainment efforts for the E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System.

The company will engineer and sustain systems, train flight and mission crews and manage certification of weapon system interoperability as part of the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, the Department of Defense said Friday.

Other services under the sole-source award include JSTARS unique asset management, cybersecurity and sustainment of the Joint Integrated Maintenance Information System hardware and software.

Northrop will perform contract work in Melbourne, Florida, through Oct. 31, 2023.

USAF is obligating $10.5 million on the award with the branch’s fiscal 2023 operations and maintenance funds.

The Joint STARS is a modified Boeing 707-300 series airframe and functions as an airborne battle management, command and control, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance platform.
