The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has awarded 20 companies positions on a 10-year follow-on contract for professional, technical and scientific services in the weather domain.
According to an award notice published Tuesday, the ProTech 2.0 Weather Domain is a multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract set aside for small businesses.
NOAA received 46 proposals in the initial phase of the solicitation and 31 offers in Phase II.
ProTech is a suite of multiple-award IDIQ contracts covering satellite, oceans, fisheries and weather domains. The overall procurement effort has a ceiling of $8 billion.

Scope of ProTech 2.0 Weather Domain IDIQ
In May 2024, NOAA released a draft solicitation for the ProTech 2.0 Weather Domain program, which has a five-year base ordering period and a five-year option term.
According to the draft request for proposals, the services to be provided under ProTech 2.0 Weather will primarily support the National Weather Service and other NOAA line and staff offices.
Scientific services may include advanced modeling services, observation systems, data assimilation support, unified forecast system services, research, analysis products, verification and validation and impact-based decision support services.
For professional services, the contractors should provide project and program management, strategic planning, business reengineering services, budget and financial management, quality assurance and quality management, policy and governance and workforce management.
Engineering support may include systems engineering, technology assessments, radio frequency spectrum management support, engineering consulting, facilities engineering and safety and environmental compliance support.
