Six companies have won two-year contracts worth potentially $59.5M combined to six companies to conduct studies for the U.S. Navy's large unmanned surface vessel development program.
The firm-fixed-price contracts have a collective base value of $42M and an option for engineering services that would extend work through May 2022, the Department of Defense said Friday.
Naval Sea Systems Command received eight offers for the project via FedBizOpps and will use fiscal 2020 Navy research, development, test and evaluation funds to cover the initial work.
The awards come one year after NAVSEA sought LUSV design concepts from industry .
