The Naval Facilities Engineering Command has started seeking industry feedback for a potential $8 billion Multiple Award Construction Contract for large scale general construction projects.
According to the request for proposal issued on SAM.gov Monday, the design-build/design-bid-build, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract covers various construction projects for naval facilities at NAVFAC Washington’s area of operations, including Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia.
Expected Contract Work
Construction projects will include general building type projects while general construction will consist of management and supervision services, labor, materials, tools and equipment needed for new construction, demolition, repair, alteration and renovation of buildings, systems and infrastructure. It may also include civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection and communication systems.
The construction project may include work on various facilities such as administrative, industrial, maintenance, warehouses, hangars and communication sites. The contract may also cover work on personnel support, recreation, dormitory, lodging, medical and training facilities as well as ranges and roads.
This full and open competition solicitation is open to qualified businesses regardless of size, but large business offerors are required to subcontract small businesses. The contract will have an eight-year ordering period, including a two-year base period with two three-year option periods.
