The U.S. Space Force’s Space and Missile Systems Center has picked the National Security Technology Accelerator to manage the potential $12B Space Enterprise Consortium for a period of 10 years.
SMC plans to award the other transaction agreement for the management of SpEC by the end of December, pending a congressional notification period of 30 days, NSTXL said Thursday.
NSTXL will encourage traditional and nontraditional defense contractors and commercial companies to collaborate with the U.S. military on the development of space systems and oversee those platforms through prototyping and testing under the OTA.
NSTXL CEO Tim Greeff said the accelerator looks forward to generating more value for the U.S. military by bringing innovation to the Space Force and encouraging participation of nontraditional contractors in the defense sector.
NSTXL helps emerging technology developers navigate the federal acquisition process by implementing an Agile acquisition platform and providing open-source tech discovery, commercial-term contracting and marketing outreach support.
The Space Force issued a solicitation in March for the OTA recompete to find an SpEC manager that will coordinate prototyping agreements between the government and industry.
