NASA Plans New Ground System at Kennedy for Lockheed's Orion, Boeing's SLS

TYSONS CORNER, VA, March 31, 2016 ” NASA will build new ground infrastructure at Kennedy Space Center to support the processing of the Lockheed Martin-built (NYSE: LMT) Orion spacecraft and Boeing-built (NYSE: BA) Space Launch System, ExecutiveBiz reported Wednesday.

The space agency said Wednesday its plan is the result of an assessment by NASA engineers and aerospace specialists of proposed spaceport development projects at the Kennedy center.

“Modernizing the ground systems for our journey to Mars also ensures long-term sustainability and affordability to meet future needs of the multi-use spaceport, ” said Bill Hill, deputy associate administrator of NASA’s exploration systems development unit.
