Ramanujam, a technology and strategy executive in the aerospace and defense sector, announced the appointment in a LinkedIn post on Monday.
“Particularly honored to continue working with extraordinarily group of people across all 3 divisions of HII, committed to taking naval shipbuilding and our national security capabilities to new heights,” he said in the post.
In his new role, which expands his previous responsibilities as HII’s vice president for strategic technology initiatives and AI operations, the executive will lead cross-divisional strategic technology initiatives, including shipbuilding modernization and artificial intelligence, autonomy and wargaming efforts.

Ramanujam joined HII in August 2021 as managing director of strategic initiatives and AI operations for the company’s mission technologies division.
Prior to HII, he was managing director of AI operations at Alion Science and Technology. He was also the chief technology officer and chief strategy officer at ASSETT, CTO and vice president at Leonardo, and CEO at Sensor Biomed.
