Mitcham Industries has bought an L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) business unit that offers side-scan sonar and waterside security systems to the military and commercial sectors.
Texas-based Mitcham sells or leases geophysical equipment for energy, academic, environmental, seismic and government use, and the company aims to expand its technology and customer base through the purchase of L-3 Klein Associates, Rob Capps, co-CEO at Mitcham, said Monday.
The Salem, New Hampshire-business will change its name to Klein Marine Systems and integrate into Mitcham’s manufacturing segment.
