DOD Appoints MIT Lincoln Lab Director Eric Evans as Defense Science Board Chair

Eric Evans, director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lincoln Laboratory, has assumed chairmanship of the Defense Science Board.

The Department of Defense said Monday Evans will lead the civilian group that advises Department of Defense leaders on matters related to science, technology, manufacturing and acquisition process.

He has gained research and development experience in technology areas such as radars, advanced signal processing, and air and missile defense over the course of his career.

Evans previously served as vice-chair of DSB and board chairman at the National GEM Consortium.

“I am deeply honored to serve in this role, and I look forward to working closely with DoD senior leadership and the DSB members at a time when science and technology advances are critically important for protecting the U.S. and our allies from new threats,” Evans said.

The newly appointed DSB chair is also a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
