Michelle Kruger, vice president of global services and support at Austal USA, will serve as interim president of the U.S. business arm of the global shipbuilding company to take over duties of outgoing President Rusty Murdaugh.
The company said Thursday Kruger brings to the role over 25 years of experience in maritime construction, repair and maintenance.
As manager of global support business, she spearheaded pursuit of government contracts and commercial business opportunities and led post-delivery efforts, according to Austal CEO Paddy Gregg.
“Prior to joining Austal USA 12 months ago, Michelle was vice president of operations at General Dynamics Bath Iron Works where she led approximately 4,000 men and women and established a process disciplined approach to maximize safety and first-time quality,” shared Gregg.
The Austal chief executive also expressed appreciation to Murdaugh for his company contribution.
“In his time as AUSA president numerous shipbuilding orders, potentially worth billions of dollars have been secured for the business, which will underpin our USA operations for the next decade and beyond,” said Gregg.
