Michael Smith
Michael Smith, formerly corporate vice president for business growth at Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII), has been named corporate VP for strategy and development.
He will succeed Christopher Kastner, who will take Barbara Niland’s role as corporate VP and chief financial officer after her retirement, HII said Tuesday.
Smith will report to HII President and CEO Mike Petters.
“Mike is an experienced executive who brings a wealth of demonstrated success in the world of business development, ” Petters said.
Smith was most recently in charge of executing the company’s growth strategy in the commercial and government nuclear sectors.
He has served as sector VP for business development, strategy and planning for the support solutions sector at BAE Systems after he led Marsh USAs nuclear risk practice.
Smith was a five-year surface warfare officer in the U.S. Navy.
