McAfee‘s (Nasdaq: MCFE) enterprise business and FCN will provide the Department of Veterans Affairs with cybersecurity tools and expertise under a five-year, $281 million contract to support the agency’s compliance with a recent executive order on strengthening the federal government’s defenses against malicious cyber campaigns.
The department will gain access to McAfee Enterprise’s MVISION Endpoint Security, Data Loss Prevention Endpoint and MVISION Endpoint Detection and Response offerings that it could use to secure sensitive information of veterans and protect its information technology infrastructure, the partnership said Wednesday.
Rob Lalumondier, senior director of federal civilian at McAfee Enterprise, noted that MVISION EDR meets the requirement of the EO on Improving the Nation’s Cybersecurity for agencies to implement an initiative focused on endpoint detection and response.
“As the administration’s recent [EO] emphasizes, our federal agencies need to move toward cybersecurity that is proactive rather than reactive, and VA is leading the way with these solutions,” said Lalumondier.
McAfee Enterprise is a cybersecurity business whose certain assets were sold to a Symphony Technology Group-led consortium in a $4 billion all-cash transaction that closed Tuesday. McAfee said it wants to focus on the company’s consumer business.
Meanwhile, FCN is a woman-owned, ISO-certified small business that offers network security products, professional cloud engineering support and other services to the federal government to help agencies increase their overall cybersecurity posture.
