A Maersk Line subsidiary has received a potential five-year, $196.3 million contract from to help the U.S. Navy operate and maintain seven USNS Bob Hope-class military vehicle cargo ships.
U.S. Marine Management Inc. will support the military branch’s surge large, medium-speed roll-on/roll-off vessels at sea globally under the firm-fixed-price contract, the Defense Departmentsaid Monday.
DoD noted the contract has a 12-month base period that is valued at $36.1 million and will run through September 2018.
The Military Sealift Command is the contracting activity and will obligate $27 million in working capital funds for fiscal 2018.
Work could extend until March 2023 if the Navy exercises the contract’s 12-month options and an additional six-month option, DoD added.
Norfolk, Virginia-based USMMI provides ship operations, maintenance, conversion, modification and retrofit services to U.S. naval vessels.
