TYSONS CORNER, VA, June 24, 2019 ” Lockheed Martin has offered its satellites to join a space sustainability project of the World Economic Forum which aims to determine how satellites follow best practices for debris mitigation and other space operations issues, ExecutiveBiz reported Thursday.
œIt™s a real serious issue with debris, said Rick Ambrose, executive vice president of Lockheed Martin™s space division and a 2019 Wash100 winner, at the Paris Air Show, adding that œthere are going to have to be some multinational policies for how people conduct themselves in space.
œIf we want to have a robust economy in Low Earth Orbit ¦ we™ve got to deal with [debris] mitigation, he said. œOh, and let™s not practice ASAT [antisatellite] technology in Low Earth Orbit.
