TYSONS CORNER, VA, April 23, 2018 Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) is eyeing a hybrid of its F-35 Lightning II and F-22 Raptor fighter jets as its offer to Japan for the country’s potential $40 billion stealth fighter aircraft procurement program, ExecutiveBiz reported Friday.
Reuters reported Friday Lockheed had initial discussions with Japanese defense officials about the plan and will submit a formal bid upon the U.S. government’s approval of the proposed offering, which the company hopes to supply to Japan through the 2030s in support of deterrence efforts against possible Chinese and Russian airspace intrusions.
