Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has received a $147.3 million cost-sharing contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to conduct research as part of a prototype agreement for the Tactical Boost Glide program.
DARPA will obligate $13.4 million from fiscal 2016 research and development funds at the time of award, the Defense Departmentsaid Monday.
The TBG program is a joint initiative of DARPA and the U.S. Air Force that seeks to build and demonstrate technology platforms to facilitate the development of tactical-range, aerial-launched hypersonic boost glide systems for use in future offensive strike missions.
TBG aims to leverage the technical lessons learned from the development and test flights of the Hypersonic Technology Vehicle 2 and other previous boost glide platforms.
