Larry Ryder, former senior director of business development and customer relations at Austal USA, has been elevated to the role of vice president of business development and external affairs at the Mobile, Alabama-based shipbuilder.
Ryder will coordinate Austal’s media relations and external communications and oversee legislative activities and business development initiatives as part of his new role, the company said Tuesday.
The executive will also be responsible for maintaining customer relations with the U.S. military.
Ryder has more than a decade of experience in supporting U.S. Navy and Marine Corps shipbuilding programs. He led the USMC High Speed Vessel program office as director and worked as deputy program manager for the Navy’s Joint High Speed Vessel project.
His career also includes time at General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) where he oversaw business development activities for expeditionary fast transport and littoral combat ship projects.
