John Tierney, an L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) veteran, has assumed the role of VP and general manager of the surface and C5 systems segment newly established under the company’s integrated mission systems business.
He will be in charge of leading a global team that provides autonomous surface vessels, integrated command, control, computers, communications, cyber, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance mission support and platform control capabilities for naval forces globally, he said in a LinkedIn post.
Tierney has approximately three decades of combined professional experience with L3Harris and its previous brands. He most recently served as VP of strategic operations of L3Harris’ C5 systems unit– a role he held for nearly 10 years, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He joined the former L-3 Communications company in June 1997, and has, since then, assumed several positions of varying and increasing responsibilities.
Tierney’s career also includes working in managerial capacities at Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) for more than six years and at General Electric’s aerospace arm for four years.
