L3 Technologies (NYSE: LLL) has secured a potential six-year, $73.7M contract to update, repair and overhaul submarine photonics masts used on U.S. Navy submarines.
The service branch will obligate $2.1M in fiscal 2019 other procurement funds at the time of award, the Department of Defense said Monday.
Ninety-eight percent of work will occur in Northampton, Mass., and the remaining 2 percent will take place at other locations within the U.S.
The company is scheduled to complete work under the sole-source contract by June 2025.
Photonics masts are designed to help operators monitor situations around underwater vessels such as Virginia-class nuclear submarines.
