Kurt DelBene
Kurt DelBene, executive vice president of corporate strategy, core services engineering and operations at Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), has taken the additional role of chief digital officer at the company, the Seattle Times reported Friday.
In this capacity, DelBene will oversee Microsoft’s internal information technology groups, operations and corporate strategy as the software developer’s sales and operations unit undergoes reorganization.
The report noted that Jim DuBois, chief information officer and manager of internal technology teams at Microsoft, will resign from his posts.
DelBene returned to Microsoft in 2015 two years after he left the firm as president of the Office division.
He held a venture partner role at Madrona Venture Group and helped the Obama administration make changes to the health insurance exchange site Healthcare.gov as a senior adviser at the Department of Health and Human Services.
He has held several leadership roles at Microsoft since 1992, such as senior VP of the business division, VP of authoring and collaboration services, general manager of Microsoft Outlook and group manager of systems division.
Prior to Microsoft, he worked at McKinsey & Company as a management consultant and at AT&T Bell Laboratories as a systems engineer and software developer.
