SpiderOak, a Reston, Virginia-based zero trust cybersecurity platforms provider, has appointed Kip Gering, a veteran cybersecurity executive, as chief revenue officer.
The company said Tuesday Gering will directly report to SpiderOak CEO Dave Pearah and lead business development, sales and marketing departments and execute the corporate plan to drive market expansion and revenue growth.
He brings to the role over 25 years of experience in the defense, cybersecurity and industrial internet of things sectors.
“The cybersecurity landscape is undergoing a significant transformation with the adoption of zero trust frameworks replacing static network-based perimeter approaches used in the past,” Gering said. “I am thrilled to join SpiderOak to continue the adoption of our solution in the defense sector and have the opportunity to provide these same protections and capabilities to various commercial sectors.”
Gering most recently served as a senior sales and business development executive at Xage Security.
Prior to Xage, he held product management and marketing leadership positions at NES and Itron.
He also served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force, where he was responsible for deploying advanced space systems and delivering cyber capabilities to Air Force Space Command.
