John Allen, co-founder and managing partner of Bluestone, said in a statement published Thursday that Phillips brings to the role his experience, mission commitment and integrity and will be a key resource to the private equity firm and its portfolio companies.
Phillips stated that he is excited to work with Bluestone’s team and bring value to its portfolio companies.
“Given the success larger businesses in the defense and government technology sector have experienced with merger and acquisition transactions, I am intrigued by Bluestone’s focus of bringing capital and M&A expertise to smaller companies that have great potential in the industry,” he noted.
From 2018 to 2022, Phillips served as president and CEO of ManTech, which was acquired by global investment firm Carlyle in September 2022.
He joined ManTech following the company’s acquisition of CTX in 2002, and has held leadership positions, including chief operating officer, chief financial officer and chief of staff and assistant to the chairman.
Phillips, who spent a decade in the U.S. Army Reserve, also sits on the boards of the CIA Officers Memorial Foundation and the National Cryptologic Foundation.
